The concept of second life is quite out there. but at this stage, the software seems a bit limiting. Im sure that someone is working hard to address the issues about constant changes to versions and firewall access and long download times.
Until these things are addressed, or Australia’s network improves exponentially and ubiquitously very soon, applications in education, and in the Library seem limited. But it’s simply a case of watch this space, as existing proprietary leaming management systems are also limited, and they don’t have the pressure of millions of people wanting them to improve!
